Giving indie developers a boost

USEFUL ARTICLES

60 developers, 40 Stories

What do you get when you have 60 wonderfully geeky individuals all working to develop a single videogame using the Unreal Engine? You could have guessed a game like “Batman: Arkham Asylum” or possibly “Leisure Suit Larry(?)” but you’d be wrong! You get what looks to be a comical and slightly epic indie puzzle game.

40 Stories is an indie game being developed by 60 students at the Chico State GAME Studio and rather ironically it’s all about escaping the office. The office which all of these students would have to work in, if they weren’t out there training to get “real” jobs making videogames - so they don’t have to file paperclips. God I love filing paper clips, somebody make a game of that Stat! (MIKE?!)

The game includes plenty of office humour such as using a photocopier to make copies of yourself and avoiding the deadly paper shredders! And, like real life, you get to have a geeky overly-obsessed fanboy following your every move and watching your silhouette through the window as you shower... (MIKE?!!!)

"In 40 Stories, you play as Anita Hent, a disgruntled technical support employee who is on a mission to leave her office. In Anita’s haste, she runs into the megalomaniacal Professor Darius McDoogle, who zaps her with his reality altering Quantum Stabilizer, which then gives Anita the power to clone herself. Anita must now traverse her ever changing office building with the help of her very own Fanboy and escape McDoogle’s grasp."

There’s no demo of the game just yet but the website claims it will be “coming soon”. However, if their previous games are anything to go by that’s an outright lie! Anyway, we’ll let you know if it happens.
